Mar 03, 2003 SCHAW CASTLE CAVE, AKA - RAT BAT HOLE: Field notes: I. C. CONOLLEY Cavers: R. S. Stewart, I. C. Conolley, M. Taylor It’s Monday, March 3, 2003 and we are on the caving road again and are in Chatsworth, the section called Shingle Hut. Clive, as promised has taken us to Rat Bat Hole. We have hiked for about a half mile in through a pasture, as usual, and then uphill. The cave has a large entrance, but that is about all and has no extensions. It is really one massive chamber. The breakdown boulders on the left going in form a passageway of about 20 meters. A lot of bats were present. |
